Why healthcare catering needs specialist cover
A care home kitchen is judged on records as much as on food. IDDSI texture levels, allergen controls, fortified diets, temperature logs and the kitchen’s HACCP file all have to be kept correctly by whoever is cooking that day. Zolt’s founder supervised catering in a hospital trust, and our care home cooks are chosen for that discipline as much as for their cooking.
What we cover
Day shifts for cooks and catering supervisors, holiday and sickness cover, long-term placements while homes recruit, and kitchen managers for groups. Shifts typically run 7am to 3pm or 8am to 6pm with breakfast, lunch and tea service for 30 to 90 residents.
Compliance
Care home cooks supplied by Zolt hold food safety level 2 as a minimum, with level 3 for supervisory cover. Right-to-work checks are completed before any placement and references are taken from previous care or healthcare kitchens.

Chefs are employed and paid by Zolt. You receive a single invoice for signed-off hours.

Do your cooks understand IDDSI texture levels?
Yes. Care home cover is only offered to cooks with care, hospital or school kitchen experience and a working knowledge of texture-modified diets.
Can you supply a kitchen manager for a care group?
Yes, on a temporary or permanent basis.
